Neighborhood & Beach Clean Ups

Since March 2012, Forest City has been holding a monthly neighborhood clean up.  Forest City's entire K-Bay staff has been spending one afternoon per month hitting the streets to pick up trash and debris from a Forest City neighborhood.

In March, Forest City associates picked up trash in Ulupau and Nani Ulupau and hauled away truckloads of waste.  In April, Pa Honua and Fort Hase beach received extra attention.

Thanks to all of the residents who have been taking that extra moment to clean up after their pets and make sure trash gets disposed of properly.  Mahalo!

Earth Day Expo

On Saturday, April 21st, Forest City joined the excitement at the 4th Annual Earth Day Expo at Mokapu Mall on MCBH.  Educational booths and live entertainment provided fun and information while vendors raised awareness for eco-tourism and environmentally-friendly products.

Forest City handed out grass seed and trash & recycling information.  Residents were given the opportunity to make an Earth-friendly pledge while entering drawings for smart powerstrips.  Kids helped plant seeds in new community planter boxes.  These planters will be on display in front of Forest City's offices.  Mahalo to everyone who came out!

Free Gift Wrapping & Toys for Tots

In honor of the holidays, Forest City rounded up some elves to provide free gift wrapping for residents.  Those who stopped by for the event were treated to light refreshments, free gift wrapping, and loads of holiday cheer.  Residents also stopped by to drop off donations for the Toys for Tots.  Thanks to everyone who came out to our event and to everyone who donated to Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Foundation!

Check out the last picture.  Those are all the toys and other items donated by Forest City's residents and employees and our local Enterprise Rent-A-Car branch on MCBH.  Mahalo!

Thanksgiving Keiki Contest

Congratulations to the winners of our Thanksgiving kids' drawing/coloring contest!

As usual, there were many fabulous works of art submitted by our residents.  Our friends in Family Housing had a very difficult time deciding on a winner from each age division.  Below are our three winning drawings.

Congratulations to Victoria (age 3), Tate (age 5), and Darleese Marie (age 13) for their winning creations!  They each won a dozen yummy malasadas thanks to Agnes Portuguese Bake Shop in Kailua.  Congratulations to them and thanks to everyone who participated!  Their drawings helped liven up our offices and brighten everyone's day.

Community Day 2011

On June 17th nearly 100 Forest City employees spent the day volunteering their time and energy at He'eia Wetland Restoration Project (Mahuahua Ai o Hoi).

Mahuahua Ai o Hoi is restoring the wetlands in order to balance this environmentally sensitive ecosystem in Windward O’ahu.  Replacing invasive plants with traditional wetland crops like taro creates vital habitats for endangered birds while helping to reduce damaging runoff into Kāne’ohe Bay and the He’eia fishpond.   Volunteers from Forest City dug out invasive marsh-choking plants and helped to built protective earthen berms around new taro fields.

Each year, Forest City donates the time and energy of thousands of employees in order to help local communities.
